Tranquilo in Orlando Hosts LPGA Season Opener in January
Momentum is already building for the second edition of the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions, Jan. 16-19, at Tranquilo Golf Course at Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club Orlando in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Diamond Resorts and LPGA executives along with past and potential sponsors gathered at the Drive Shack in Lake Nona, Monday, August 12 to discuss the successes of the inaugural event, the early field and the additions to the 2020 edition. The unique format features two tournaments within one: qualified LPGA winners from the past two years, and a roster of world-class celebrities playing side-by-side.
LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan boasted about the “Party Stop on the LPGA Tour” citing players’ positive feedback from last year. After experiencing the comradery with the celebrities, the first-class hospitality and the overall fun atmosphere, players are even more anxious to earn a spot in the champions-only event.
Celebrities, too, vie for coveted spots in the celebrity field. Diamond Resorts’ President and CEO Mike Flaskey was on hand to announce early commitments include defending champion John Smoltz, tennis great Mardy Fish, All-Star pitcher Mark Mulder and World Series Champions Tim Wakefield and Kevin Millar. Also, new for 2020, Diamond Resorts will host a Thursday night concert in addition to the previous Tuesday and Saturday shows. Top performers from the worlds of rock, country, and Top 40 music are expected to be confirmed in the coming months.
The fall is sure to bring even more celebrity commitments and LPGA players who have punched their ticket to the tournament. Visit DiamondLPGA.com for tournament information, hospitality packages and to purchase tickets. #DiamondLPGA
